Mud of Mediocrity: Confusion
Have you ever woke up in the middle of the night not know where you were or maybe even who you were for a split second? I know sometimes that split second can seem like eternity. You are confused but luckily it is shorted lived. The sad part about it is that Christians all over America are living this same way. Confused. They are confused by their mediocrity. The problem becomes even worse when others around them are confused by there mediocrity.

In my mediocrity, I confuse two sets of people. I confuse my brothers and sisters in the Lord and I confuse the non-believer. Hey, that's just about everyone! Today, let's look at how we, in our mediocrity can confuse the family of God.

Being a believer in mordern American is a hard job. We live in a society where everything is instant and worse every thing is sexual. It is hard to find one billboard or one commerical that has no sexual reference. From Uncle Ben's rice where the good looking girl intices the perfect male spien to come eat a bowl of rice to the Remmington shaver commerical where a couple put down the top on the car and go into a carwash to shave. They show the beatiful young ladies long wet leg while the unshirted man intices the female customer to buy a shaver. Then when you get back to the show it is even worse, with shows like Sex in the City. Is there any question what that is about? My point is that becoming a modiocre christian in America is as easy as turning on the TV.

How that we know one of the millions of reason why a christian becomes mediocre in his/her relationship with God. What is the result? I know of a woman whose husband would get up early in the morning and read his Bible. He would then go to work and when he came back home he would start throwing around hurtful words. The woman asked herself and others, "how can my husband read his Bible everyday and yet say some of the things he says?" She was confused by her husband, who was a believer in Christ, because of his actions. His actions did not match up to the Word of God. The vary book he was reading! Why? Mediocrity! Mediocrity had slid into his heart. This is only on of the thousands of instances that we find in American churches and unfortunitly this is a mild example. When a Christian's words and deeds do not match up with the God's standard for living those around him/her that know the standards can become confused about the state of that persons eternal soul. The sad part about the mediocre christian is they are of no earthly good to the kingdom. Mediocrity has killed the christian's passion to see lost souls won to Christ. In fact, he is wondering if he will make it to heaven himself. He knows Christ will spit the lukewarm Christian out of his mouth but they don't know how to correct the problem. Are you mediocre christian?

Mud of Mediocrity
Today, I am going to start a "series" of thoughts and ideas. I am going to call it the "Mud of Mediocrity". When I look around the Church of Jesus Christ, I see Christians that are not on fire for God. They have a don't have a high commitment level but yet they are not unbelievers either. You ask how do you know there are so many mediocre Christians in the American Church. Well, as my mom would say to me, "Takes one to know one." So this series is directed first and foremost at myself and if it cause someone else to think about their commitment to Christ-Great.

In the next few entries, I will be talking about at least 3 results of mediocrity. The first is mediocrity cause confusion. Next, we will deal with how mediocrity endangers. Finally, mediocrity can be the breeding ground for false teachings. Of course, there are other results of mediocrity which may worm their way into these few random thoughts.

Christmas Time Is Near
Well, Christmas is upon us and the everyone is caught up in the "holiday spirit." People running to and fro looking for that last minute gift. I find it amazing that the perfect that they are looking for they can't find even though it have been available for Free for the last 2000 years. The perfect gift is Jesus Christ. It's his birthday and we get the gift. So this year as your spending hundreds and thousands of dollars for your friends and family don't forget to give them Jesus. The perfect gift ever given!

Moving
It has been a long time since I have been able to post because I fried my processor. I finally got a new one via my dad as my Christmas present. Thanks Dad--your the greatest.

Well, this week has been a big week for me. We have moved from our apartment of 5 years and moved into a mobile home. We had a lot of stuff to move and like everyone stuff some was heavy and some was light. The one thing that this move did do was to remind me that I hate moving. I fact I only want to make one more move in my life-from here to heaven. But you know what even that move has heavy stuff and light stuff to move. Everyday you are "moving" stuff to heaven. When we obey what the Lord tells us to do we are storing up treasures in heaven. In other words, you are moving things from this life and getting them ready for the next.

The problem is that most people do not know where they will be staying in eternity. The don't know where to forward their "mail" too. If you don't know where to forward your "mail" too, let me help there are only two addresses.

John Doe
C/O Jesus Christ
1 Believers Way
Heaven 777

or

John Doe
C/O Satan
2 Sinners Ave
Hell 666

What is your forwarding address going to be?

Left Behind
Topic: Faith
I watched the movie "Left Behind" again last night. I was reminded of the fact that you don't want to miss the rapture. Things will be way out of hand. I like one line by Buck Williams. He is calling a friend and leaves the a message saying "I know the whole world is going crazy but give me a call." That is what it will be like but worse. The whole world will be going crazy. People will wonder what happened to the freinds and family. Some will understand what they have witnessed and will turn to Christ. The majority will not have clue. They will think all kinds of crazy things. One possible explaination will be that aliens came and took the missing people.

One question that Buck askes a polite when talking about the dissappearances is "Maybe the commonality is not in who was taken but who was left behind." That statement is true but there is also a commonality in those taken. The one thing the missing will have in common is that they love Jesus and accepted Him as thier Savior and Lord. Those left behind, even though most will be good people, the will not have accepted Jesus and believed that He paid for their sins on the Cross. As the assistant pastor in the movie found out, you maybe able to fool the people in church and make them think you believe but you won't fool God.

Great Ready...the end is every near.
